West BeachesWell hello there!! I have one more blog for this week.......does anyone else out there get this "West Beaches" thing that people are trying to sell around here? The west beaches of Florida are in Tampa and Fort Meyers !!! I have been at the Beaches since 1982 and this seems to be a new real estate scam so that they can charge higher prices for apartments and houses across the intracoastal waterway!? I'm not trying to be a snob about it because the beaches belong to all Floridians....however, it seems like all the newspapers and television news shows are buying into this "West Beaches"!! You've got a point there, Joe. Maybe we should start a contest to find a better name.
Beaches residents love to say they don't want to cross the "ditch," referring to the Intracoastal Waterway. Perhaps it's because so many of them cross the ditch everyday to go to work. Or, maybe it's because Beaches residents are proud of their "independence" from Jacksonville and that they have everything they need out here. I don't think they, or the news media, mean to leave you "West Beaches" people out.
